Peer Over View : Kelly Harris

"Pendulate, "  according to the Merriam Webster dictionary does not exist yet Kelly does an excellent job at utilizing this word to its fullest in the form of design..
The closest definition to the word pendulate is:  "to swing as a pendulum." She used her creativity to apply the given "kits" to the selected spaces.

Space 1 : Kit A [2 walls. 1 column]
For this 11x32.4 space she designed  in the idea of mood swings.  Her most successful iteration of her design vision were the sketch up models. It shows a clear understanding of materials as well as it conceptually shows the presence of of mood swings through the placement of her walls. She chose to manipulate the meaning of the word to the design of navigation through the space, focusing on"the progression of positive and negative feelings from one extreme to the other over an extended period of time." For her to successfully execute this idea she installed pendulating walls that can maneuver and move to suit the mood..
a smart idea because the possibilities of the space are endless.

Space 2 : Kit B [2 columns. 1 wall]
In this 22x22 foot space Kelly explores the geometry and limits of an arch in the form of design. She wanted to embody the flow or movement of something that pendulates. To further this idea of arches she chose to incorporate objects of the curvilinear form. By doing this she forces us to navigate the space in a specific manner. All of her deliverables were satisfactory but the one which stood out from the rest was her physical model. With a system as complicated and intricate as this, her model definitely help us to have an insight to her design vision.

Space 3 : Kit C [2 solids]
The concept of time was the ticking force in the design of this 22x32.4 foot space. Her main focus was on the "unchanging rhythm as time slowly passes away."
She uses the two solids kit to portray the idea of past and present and where the two meet. I must admit that I feel like this space was least successful. The concept was a great idea but it wasn't fully thought through. However I do feel that her axonometric drawing of this space tries its best to help us, as the viewers to understand what design ideas she was trying to portray.
